Use Case #8: Connectivity on demand for fair events

Trade shows and events often require high-performance connectivity for exhibition stands, ensuring optimal bandwidth and low latency. 5G technology enables high-speed gateways that provide a robust 5G connection while created localised “connectivity bubble” using wired, Wi-Fi, or other technologies. This allows exhibitors to support demonstrations, kiosks, video streaming and other stand activities. This UC extends to trade fair areas and enables local networks within stands, acting as wireless SD-WAN extensions of private internets.
To enhance public 5G coverage, dedicated indoor small cells significantly boost bandwidth offering superior connectivity for both exhibitors and visitors. The Hybrid MPN further provides specialised connectivity services and advanced area management capabilities.
To ensure sufficient capacity, the MPN operates on both 3.7GHz and 26GHz frequency layers, leveraging resource reservation and network slicing for differentiated service levels. The technology is highly mature, utilising MPN architectures in Non-Standalone or Standalone modes with private cloud or edge cloud breakout. While SD-WAN gateways for mobile networks are commercially available and evolving for 5G, additional efforts are needed to refine connectivity management, dynamic SIM and gateway configuration, and advanced SD-WAN schemes to optimize network capacity.
